According to the Spanish interior ministry, the number of people detained while attempting to enter the country illegally in 2014 was 12,549 which is up from 7,472 in 2013. Spain recently passed a law which enables authorities to reject any immigrant at the border.

Only Single men and families can be allowed to stay while they are evaluated for immigration to Spain. But this should not take place in Ceuta and Melilla. Instead, they should be kept in Morocco whilst awaiting approval. In order to enter Spain they must demonstrate comprehension in the Spanish Language and knowledge of Spanish Traditions and Customs.
