Assisted suicide is currently illegal in Spain. In 2011, the Spanish government introduced a “death with dignity law” which did not pass. The bill regulated the rights of patients, family members, and their doctors during the end-of-life period. The law also provided rights for terminally ill patients facing death to end their lives prematurely if they were suffering from pain.  See recent euthanasia news
